Walter J. Stye

January 19, 1918 — December 25, 2008

Walter J. Stye, 90, of Fountain Hill died December 25, 2008 at Manor Care Health Services. He was the husband of the late Doris Miller Stye who died on April 15, 1998. They were married for 58 years. Born in Newark, NJ, he was the son of the late Jacob and Cecilia Drewsicka Stye.

He was a automobile salesman for 28 years in Newark, NJ and Wayne, NJ. He ended his career at Jack Trebour Ford of Randolph, NJ in 1986. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in February of 1941 as a private and rose to Master Sgt. Major in 1943 when he was discharged to accept an appointment as Warrant Officer Jr. Grade. He was made Chief Warrant Officer in 1944. He served in the European Theatre of Operations for two years.

He was a member of St. Ursula's Catholic Church in Fountain Hill.

Surviving are sons Kenneth W. Stye and his wife Regina of Bethlehem and John J. Stye and his wife Norma of Montague NJ.

He is also survived by grandchildren Emily Stye, Wendy Lynn Puopolo, Jan Otto , Eric Kaulfers and great grandchildren Angelica, Jake, Emma, Anthony and Antonio.

Walter was predeceased by a sister Irene M. and a brother Edward.

Friends and relatives are invited to call at Connell Funeral Home on Tuesday, 12/30/2008 from 8:15AM - 9:15AM. Funeral services will begin with prayers at 9:15AM in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in St. Ursulas's Church.

Burial will be in Our Lady of the Magnificat Cemetery in Kinnelon, NJ at 2:00PM on Tuesday.
