William A. Deiter

March 5, 1932 — September 10, 2011

William A. Deiter, 79, of Bethlehem Twp., passed away Saturday, September 10, 2011 at St. Luke's Hospital.

He was born March 5, 1932 in Fountain Hill; the son of the late Samuel R. and Jane E. Williams Deiter.

When he was 11 years old, Bill delivered ice for his father, an original member of the Deiter Brothers Company. There Bill established a strong work ethic, eventually becoming President of the company until his retirement in 1994.

He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Bill was a devoted husband and father. He was also the proud grandfather to three beautiful granddaughters who brought joy to his life. Bill was a true friend to all who knew him and will be dearly missed by his wife, Kathleen Unger Deiter of Bethlehem Twp.; his daughter, Jane Bedics & husband Stuart of Lower Nazareth Twp.; granddaughters, Autumn Deiter, Avery Bedics and Hannah Grinchuk; a son, Alan F. Grinchuk of Bethlehem; his brother, James Deiter of Hanover Twp. as well as his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sons, William and Samuel Deiter and Michael Grinchuk and his sisters, Martha Lopez and Marlene "Pat" Kramer.

Bill enjoyed bowling in the Pieces of 8 bowling league and he was an avid golfer and member of the Green Pond Golf Assoc. He could also be seen "putt putting" around town on his "Scooter".

A visitation will be held at Connell Funeral Home, on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 from 6-9 PM and again on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 from 9-10 AM with a ceremony to honor Bill's life officiated by Rev. Jose Rexach to immediately follow in the funeral home.

Interment will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Assoc. 212 East Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 and/ or to the Diabetes Foundation 65 East Elizabeth Avenue, Suite 502. Bethlehem, PA 18018.
