William A. Yenca, Sr.

William A. “Willy” Yenca, Sr., 86, of Bethlehem, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Albert and Mary Yenca. He was the husband of Margaret (Lawrence) Yenca, they were married for 63 years.

Willy worked for the US Postal Service for 32 years as a Letter Carrier in Bethlehem. After retiring he stayed active with the Post Office Union and spent many hours helping Post Office retirees with their benefits. He served with the US Army in the Korean War and was member of the Hellertown American Legion. He was a life member of the Heights AA, a founding member of the Bethlehem Boating Club, and a member of St Bernard's, the Hellertown Sportsman Club and the Tammany. He also served on the board of the First Class Federal Credit Union. In his 70s, Willy went back to school and earned his diploma from Freedom High School in 2005. He was a faithful parishioner of the Incarnation of Our Lord Parish.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Margaret; sons: William Jr. & wife Paulette, Thomas & wife Cathy, and Charles & wife Danielle; sisters, Mary Stofanak and Sr. Anna Marie Yenca, OSF; 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren with a 15th due in July; and daughter-in-law, Donna Yenca. He was predeceased by his son, James; brother, George; and sister, Anna Timko.

Viewing hours will be held in the Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, on Thursday, Jan. 11 from 6 to 9 p.m. and again on Friday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. A 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at the Incarnation of Our Lord Church, 617 Pierce St., Bethlehem. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
