William D. Odenwelder, Sr.

William D. Odenwelder, 84 , of Stroudsburg, PA, formerly of Bethlehem died on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at East Stroudsburg Hospice House in East Stroudsburg, PA. He was son of the late William E.and Mammie Baer Odenwelder and the husband of the late Agnes Hartney Odenwelder who died November 17, 2006.

Bill was a member of Christ Hamilton Lutheran Chuch in Sciota, PA.

Bill owned and operated the former Odenwelder Electric and Hardware Store on West Broad Street, Bethlehem from 1946 to 1966 for 20 years after which he was employed by the Allentown Beverage Co. retiring in 1984 after 18 years service. Bill then worked part time for the Twin Pines Emanuel Church Camp. Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during WW II serving in the South Pacific aboard a sub chaser. He was a member of the V.F.W. 2540 Allentown.

Bill will be lovingly remembered by his sons, W. Daniel Odenwelder, Jr. and his wife Maureen of Shillington, PA, Thomas L. Odenwelder of Snydersville, PA, daughter Mary A. Jones and husband Dennis of Apollo, PA, four grandchildren John and Heather Odenwelder , Geoffrey and Colin Jones, wife Amy and two great grandchildren Ashlynn and Alex Jones.



Bill is predeceased by his parents, wife and sister Doris Schmidt.



A Celebration of Life service will be held at Connell Funeral Home, Inc., 245 East Broad St., Bethlehem, PA on Monday, December 21, 2009 at 12:00 PM followed by interment service at Bethlehem Memorial Park. Friends may call from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Connell Funeral Home on Monday, December 21, 2009.
