William H. Gorman

William H. Gorman, Sr., 86, of Bethlehem, died on Saturday, January 5, 2013. He was born November 11, 1926 in Ardmore, PA; son of the late Edward W. and Ruth N. (Stanton) Gorman. William was the husband of 64 years, to Ceinwen (Nicholas) Gorman, of Bethlehem.

William was a proud member of the US Army during WWII, serving as a Staff Sergeant in the Pacific Theatre. After returning home from war, William worked for the Bethlehem Steel Corp., Kricks Bakery and the Bethlehem Park Police. Most of his working life was dedicated to the food industry. William was the manager for George's IGA, Vice President of the Lehigh Valley Dairies, regional manager and store manager for 2 guys of Harrision and ultimately retiring as the owner and operator of Gormans IGA.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, sons, William H. Gorman, Jr. husband of Constance and Thomas Gorman all of Bethlehem as well as his grandchildren, Brian Gorman, Todd Haldaman and Danielle Curtis. He is also survived by several great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren, a sister, Ruth Appel and a brother, James Gorman. William was preceded in death by his brother, Edward W. Gorman, Jr.

A visitation will be held at The Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 on Friday, January 11, 2013 from 10-11 AM for immediate and extended family only, with a funeral ceremony to begin at 11 AM. Interment will be held at Nisky Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
