William J. Devers

William J. Devers, Jr., 66, of Bethlehem, died on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg with his family by his side. He was born November 24, 1952 in Allentown; son of the late, William J. and Catherine (Balliet) Devers, Sr. He was married to Barbara (Wagner) Devers with whom he celebrated 46 years of marriage this past July 29th.

William was a graduate of Liberty High School. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. William worked as a welder for Fuller Company and MC Ironworks. After retiring he went on to work part time at the Auto Parts warehouse. He also took great pride in the lawns he cut for people. Bill enjoyed being outside hunting and fishing. He was an avid supporter of the Nam Knights Motorcycle Club and the Philadelphia Eagles. Bill was a member of the North End Wanderers, Heights AA, The Jeffs, The Home Association, the Bath and Northampton American Legion and several other social clubs throughout the Lehigh Valley. Even as active as Bill was his most favorite time was the time he had with his family especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara of Bethlehem; four sons, William III; Michael and his wife, Gretchen; Christopher and his wife, Melinda; and Sean and his fianc, Kim; grandchildren, Haley, Michael, Molly, Leah and Mark . He was preceded in death by his son, Mark and brother, Robert Devers.

There will be a casual gathering on Friday, February 1, 2019 at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018 from 4-6 p.m. with a celebration of Williams life to begin at 6 p.m.
