William J. Kopes

William J. Kopes, 77, of Bethlehem, died Wednesday, July 4, 2007 peacefully in his home after a courageous and dignified bout with cancer. He was born October 22, 1929 in Allentown, the son of the late William and Barbara E. Budias Kopes. He was the loving husband of the late Anna Donchez Kopes who died in 1999.

William worked for Western Electric as a machine setter for 39 years before retiring in 1987. He served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 379, Bell Telephone Pioneers and a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Bethlehem.

He will be lovingly remembered by his son, David W. Kopes of Northampton;

two daughters, Diane M. Kopes-Kerr & husband Dr. Colin Kopes-Kerr of Santa Rosa, CA; Donna M. Kopes of Bethlehem; twin brother, Edward S. Kopes of Reading;

and his three grandchildren, Jamie, Liam & Anna Kopes-Kerr.

Services: A Funeral Service will be held, Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at 9:30 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home, Inc. 245 East Broad St. Bethlehem, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 416 East Fifth St. Bethlehem. Visitation will be Monday, July 9, 2007 from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.

Burial will be at Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary Cemetery, in Northampton, PA.
