William J. Norton

August 29, 1940 — March 13, 2021

William “Bill” J. Norton, Sr., 80, of Allentown, died Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Cedarbrook Nursing Home in Fountain Hill. Born in Allentown he was the son of the late Ruth (Hunsicker) Cope and John Norton. He was the devoted husband to Ethel (Ritter) Norton for 61 years.

Bill served his community on the Salisbury Township Police Department as a patrolman, detective, Sergeant and retiring as Acting Chief of Police. He proudly served his country in the US Navy aboard the USS Conyngham and the USS Canberra. After leaving the US Navy served in the National Reserves and the Army National Guard.

Bill was a Constable at the election polls. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club and the American Legion. In his spare time he enjoyed camping, fishing, HAM radio and spending time with his family.

Bill will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Ethel, children Linda wife of Al Gunderman, William Norton, Jr. and wife Kathy, Paul Norton and companion Shirley Bush, Ethel Seibert and husband Dale, and Dale Norton and wife Angela, sister Mae Ross and brother Scott Cope, ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. His brother Ernest Norton passed away one day after Bill, on March 14th.

A calling hour will be held on Friday, March 19, 2021 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery in Allentown.
