William John Bamper

William John Bamper, 78, of Hanover Twp., died on March 24, 2016. Bill was born August 24, 1937 in Patterson, NJ; son of the late William and Alice (Dunn) Bamper. He is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Judith Marie (Meixell) Bamper.

Bill proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956-1960 and enlisted in the reserves for another two years after his honorable discharge. He earned his BS from Ramapo College. Bill had an amazing work ethic; exhibited in his 37 years of service with Public Service Electric and Gas, first as a meter reader and later as a service representative. PSE&G was also where he met and fell in love with the love of his life, Judy.

Bill will be fondly remembered as a truly unique man who was loved by many. He was happy, loyal and a genuine had a kind soul. His passion was fishing and he enjoyed his time as a coach for the baseball, basketball and football teams of St. Joseph High School in Patterson, NJ and Hawthorn Schools in Hawthorn, NJ. Bill was also an avid NY Giants fan.

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Judy and his sons, William Joseph Bamper of Manayunk, PA and Daniel John Bamper of Bethlehem; his extended family and all who knew him. Bill was preceded in death by his brothers, Bob and Ed.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. at The Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018. The family will also receive guests on Thursday from 10-11 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 3219 Santee Rd. Bethlehem, PA 18018 with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 a.m.

No flowers please. The family requests that contributions be made in Bills honor to St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital.
