William Michael Putar

William M. Putar, 93, of Bethlehem, died at his home on Tuesday, February 6, 2018. Bill was born December 22, 1924 in Bethlehem. He was preceded in death by the love of his life and best friend; his wife of 56 years, Lillian (Tumminello) Putar.

Bill was a graduate of Bethlehem High School. Upon graduation, Bill joined the U.S. Navy. He was very proud of his service aboard an ammunition ship in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. Bill later worked for over 30 years as a meat cutter for A&P Supermarket. He was a devout man with a special connection to the Blessed Mother. Bill was formerly a parishioner of Our Lady of Pompeii of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church and most recently he was a parishioner of Holy Infancy Catholic Church. Bill was an honorary member of the Nam Knights of America MC Lehigh Valley Chapter. He also enjoyed spending time at the casino.

Bill will be dearly missed by his close friends, Tim and Liz Parsons; nieces, Cindy Liedl and Laurie Thomas and his nephew, Edward Tumminello. He was predeceased by his parents, Anna and Vincent; his brother, Edward and sister, Jennie.

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 9, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. and again on Saturday from 9:00-9:30 a.m. all at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, PA 18018. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. at Holy Infancy Catholic Church, 312 E. 4th St. Bethlehem, PA 18015. Burial with military honors will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery.
