William W. Wertman

William W. Wertman, Jr., 87, of Allentown, passed away on January 6, 2021 at Phoebe Nursing Home in Allentown, PA. He was the husband of Dorothy (Domyan) Wertman. Born in Allentown on January 14, 1934, he was the son of the late Margaret (McGeehan) and William W. Wertman, Sr.

William grew up in Hanover Acres “Hungary Hills” and attended Allen High School and received his GED. He served in the United States Navy on the U.S.S. Wisconsin during the Korean War. One of his main enjoyments through life was skiing, as he was a member of the Ptarmigan Ski Club for 25 years. He also enjoyed playing tennis on the clay courts at Jordan Park. William was a “union man” and retired from the Parks Department of the City of Allentown.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Dorothy; son, William W. (Brenda) Wertman III; granddaughter Kaylani Wertman; brother, Joe (Pamela) Wertman; sister-in-law, Gloria Wertman; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Thomas and Gerald Wertman; and his sister, Bernadine Miller.

There will be no services.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 65 E. Elizabeth Ave Ste 502, Bethlehem, PA 18018.
