Wilmer "Willy" J. Shaffer

Wilmer “Willy” J. Shaffer, 72 of Bethlehem, died Thursday, April 21, 2016 at St. Lukes VNA Hospice House in Bethlehem. Born November 11, 1943 he was the son of the late Emma (Steigerwalt) and Edwin Shaffer. He was married to Diane (Weninger) Shaffer for 48 years until her death on October 28, 2011.

Willy worked for Inergsoll Rand in New Jersey and retired from B. Braun. He also worked part time at Town and Country Bowling and drove a school bus for the Bethlehem Area School District. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He lived in Maryland for a brief time where he worked for Mac Trucks and was a member of the American Legion.

He is survived by his daughter, Deidre Shaffer and fianc Randy Simpson, granddaughter , Stormy Patterson and husband Roger, great granddaughter, Rowan Patterson, sisters, Bertha Grube, Betty Kiefer, Nancy Onusko, Mildred Laudenslager and Virginia Balliet, brothers, Clayton and Roy Shaffer, and his beloved Irish Red Poodle, Jimmy. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Stanly and Edwin Shaffer.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016 from 10-11 a.m. followed by a service at 11 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.

Memorial contributions may be made in Willys name to Center for Animal Health and Welfare, 1165 Island park Rd., Easton, PA 18042.
